London's Hungarian film festival Check the Gate, in it's third year running turns to the much debated subject of immigration.
The festival will kick off in Covent Garden at the Hungarian Cultural Centre on 22 June, with documentaries and a special day for industry and accompanying events will follow throughout the week. From June 22-28 the Check the Gate 3rd Hungarian Film Showcase will offer Londoners a cinematic exploration of border crossing, displacement, migration and exile through the latest contemporary features and documentaries by Hungarian filmmakers, with a sidebar of award-winning classics, screening at the HCC and at Hammersmiths' Riverside Studios.
This year's professional forum, Maximizing your soft money - UK-Hungary, will feature leading specialists John Garydon (RSM Tenon Group UK) and Tamas Csutak (Abacus Hungary), who will be giving a presentation through a case study and engaging the audience in informal discussions in the hot topic of how best the two countries can work together. In the afternoon the event will continue with the first Check the Gate - Speed Dating, an invitation only event where Hungarian producers will be presenting their companies and a film project to British film industry members at the Hungarian Cultural Center.
Korda Studios is once again a sponsor of Check the Gate, the Hungarian Cultural Centre's annual film festival and industry event in London.
